Billy Joel's Wife Gives Fans An Update On His Health Status After Brain Disorder Diagnosis: 'We Are Hopeful'

Billy Joel‘s wife Alexis Roderick Joel has opened up about her husband’s health, just a few days after he issued a statement to reveal that he had been diagnosed with a brain disorder.

The “Uptown Girl” singer, 76, revealed that he was diagnosed with Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH) in a social media post on May 23rd, while also confirming that he would be canceling all upcoming shows.

Billy Joel's Condition Has Been 'Exacerbated By Recent Concert Performances' According To Official Statement

"Billy Joel has announced that he will be canceling all scheduled concerts following a recent diagnosis of Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH). This condition has been exacerbated by recent concert performances, leading to problems with hearing, vision and balance," the statement read.

"Under his doctor's instructions, Billy is undergoing specific physical therapy and has been advised to refrain from performing during this recovery period," the statement continued.

"Billy is thankful for the excellent care he is receiving and is fully committed to prioritizing his health. He is grateful for the support from fans during this time and looks forward to the day when he can once again take the stage."

Billy Joel's Wife Thanks Fans For The 'Outpouring Of Love And Support' Since His Diagnosis

Alexis, who shares two daughters with the "Piano Man" singer, shared an update with his fans on his Instagram account on May 26th, while thanking them for their unwavering support since news of the diagnosis was made public.

"Thank you for the outpouring of love and support. We are so grateful for the wonderful care and swift diagnosis we received," Alexis wrote, alongside a picture of them with their two daughters, Della Rose and Remy Anne.

"Bill is beloved by so many, and to us, he is a father and husband who is at the center of our world," she continued, adding: "We are hopeful for his recovery. We look forward to seeing you all in the future."

The "Just the Way You Are" singer's fans flooded the comment section with love and support. "Prayers for a quick recovery. All your fans are supporting you!" exclaimed one fan, followed by the red heart emoji.

"The best there is. Can't imagine a world without you in it," wrote a second, adding: "Your music has gotten me (and the world) through the darkest times. Glad you are taking the time to focus on healing. We will wait however long it takes. We love you so much Piano Man."
