Bradley Cooper just revealed whether anything romantic ever happened between him and Lady Gaga when they were filming the 2018 version of A Star is Born. And we have to admit that we really weren’t expecting his answer! Anyone who saw the movie featuring Cooper and the 35-year-old “Bad Romance” singer in the starring roles of Ally and Jackson – or indeed their red-hot performance of Shallow at the 2019 Oscars – would no doubt wonder whether the two of them had an off-screen romance too. Their chemistry was undeniable! Well, now it’s time to wonder no more, as the 46-year-old actor FINALLY answered the question on everyone’s lips in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter which was published on Wednesday, November 17th.
Talking specifically about the intimate Oscars performance where they were both sitting dangerously close to each other and almost smooching as they were singing by the piano – with Cooper’s then girlfriend (and mother of his daughter) 35-year-old Victoria’s Secret Angel Irina Shayk sitting somewhat awkwardly in the audience – the Hangover actor told THR: “Just from a personal standpoint, it reduces the anxiety level.”
"They kind of fall in love in that scene in the film. It's that explosive moment that happens to happen to them on a stage in front of thousands of people," the Limitless actor continued. "It would have been so weird if we were both on stools facing the audience." Hmm… we guess we get what he is saying. Lady Gaga also previously echoed Brad's statement about the media's reaction to the performance that got the whole world talking, telling Elle back in 2019: "Quite frankly, I think the press is very silly. I mean, we made a love story."
"For me, as a performer and as an actress, of course we wanted people to believe that we were in love," the House of Gucci star continued, before insisting that she and Cooper wanted people in the audience and at home to "feel that love," telling the mag at the time: "We wanted people to feel that love at the Oscars. We wanted it to go right through the lens of that camera and to every television that it was being watched on." Who knew that he and Lady Gaga were SUCH good actors?! Do we believe them?
