When it comes to others who may wish to try cosmetic procedures and alterations, Shields said she's "all for any of it if it truly is done for yourself, for the right reasons, and gives you a level of some kind of confidence that you need." However, the Endless Love star stressed that it's "easy to go down the slope of overdoing it." She added: "I’m scared of not looking like myself; the times that I’ve had Botox, I end up with this Spock eye."
The Blue Lagoon alum went on: "I don’t want to chase youth. I want to chase now." Although she has no intention of undergoing any major physical alterations, the mom of two remains receptive to experimenting with the latest trends in the realm of beauty, be it a facial peel or receiving Fraxel laser therapy. Shields shared that she is a proponent of embracing women at all phases of their lives and she explained her positive outlook on the aging process.
"You look at the women who are over 40 — their history, their vibrance, their intelligence, their responsibility, their adaptability," the Pretty Baby alum said. "They’ve raised families; they’ve run companies; they’ve been in multiple different types of relationships; they kept moving forward. We were the Amazons!"
Shields, as fans know, has accomplished a myriad of impressive feats throughout her career. In her fifties, she initiated her entrepreneurial journey by creating the encouraging platform, Beginning is Now, aimed at empowering women over the age of forty. Moreover, Shields is a mother to her two daughters, Grier, 17, and Rowan, 20, whom she shares with her husband, film director and producer Chris Henchy. Shields and Henchy tied the knot in 2001.
The Suddenly Susan actress has shared her experiences with motherhood on social media in recent years, including memorable moments like her youngest teen's aspiration towards modeling, bidding farewell to her eldest as she headed off to college, and the countless instances of both daughters perusing her designer-filled closet.
When asked how it feels to see her kids have fashion senses similar to her own, Shields told Glamour: "Well, now it makes me feel great because it wasn’t my idea." She added: "If I had tried to tell them what to wear, they would’ve gotten so mad at me and been like, 'Mom, that’s weird.' But they both went down unbeknownst to me, to the cedar closet where all the archive stuff is, and their bodies now were what my body used to be, and they fit them like a glove. I never dreamt they would want to wear my clothes. I just thought they would think I’m old-fashioned and I’m not cool."
