Cher Rocks a Hoodie Set and Bandana for Dax Shepard's Podcast
Recent reports have hinted that the "Believe" hitmaker and her much-younger boyfriend, 39-year-old Alexander “AE” Edwards, could be headed for marriage ahead of her 80th birthday in May. While those rumors remain unconfirmed, the singer opened up on the podcast about how she manifested the relationship long before the two ever met. “Before I met him, I walked around my house saying, ‘I want a man and a toddler.’”
Reacting to her story, Shepard told Cher, “You declared it to the universe.” She then clarified her mindset at the time, saying, “I wasn’t expecting them, maybe together.” She added, “But that’s what I wanted.” Edwards is the father of a 6-year-old son named Slash, whom he shares with ex Amber Rose.
Cher went on to gush about Edwards, calling him a “wonderful person” and “really funny,” and praising the fact that he’s not threatened by her “shine”—a quality she also admired in Shepard. She compared Edwards to the podcast host, explaining that he loves it when she shines and that “the more I shine,” the happier he is. Cher reiterated that he’s a “wonderful person” and “really funny,” adding that the two simply “have a blast” together and that he doesn’t try to live her life.
Cher and Dax Shepard Engage in Banter Over Kristen Bell
Cher (born 1946) and music executive Edwards (born 1986) have been in a high-profile relationship since late 2022, despite a 40-year age difference. The couple first met in September 2022 at a Paris Fashion Week event. They went public after being photographed holding hands in Los Angeles, and Cher confirmed the romance on social media, famously tweeting, “LOVE DOESN’T KNOW MATH.”
In May 2023, reports emerged that the couple had split amicably after six months of dating. However, by September, the pair had reconciled, later being spotted holding hands again in Beverly Hills and at Paris Fashion Week.
During the episode, another moment sparked buzz when Cher told Dax that Kristen deserves better than him in a moment of banter.
“Who would be your dream partner for her? Because I know you think she could do better, and I don’t disagree,” Shepard said about his wife, Bell, who joined the episode.
Cher, laughing and exaggeratingly replying, “I don’t know,” didn’t suggest anyone else for the Frozen star. But, she did say, “The truth is, I trust her. So you must have something that I don’t see.”
