The One Chick-fil-A Menu Item You Can Eat Every Day And Not Gain A Pound, According To A Nutritionist

You can't go wrong with anything on the Chick-fil-A menu. From their savory sandwiches to their delicious milkshakes, there are so many amazing things to choose from. But, you may be a little hesitant to visit Chick-fil-A if you're on a diet -- it is a fast food chain after all! Thankfully, the company offers some healthy menu items, like its Grilled Chicken Sandwich, which health experts recommend ordering if you're watching your weight.

"The last time I needed a quick and delicious lunch at Chick-fil-A, I ordered a Grilled Chicken Sandwich. I felt good about it with the lettuce, tomato and multigrain bun," Christine Palumbo, MBA, RDN, FAND, told Eat This, Not That!

The sandwich has 310 calories, which Palumbo calls a "respectable" amount, 29 grams of protein, and 6 grams of fat. This satiating menu item keeps it simple with its ingredients, only calling for one grilled chicken breast, farm fresh tomatoes, and leafy lettuce. It's also served with Chick-fil-A's signature Honey Roasted BBQ Sauce, but Palumbo recommends skipping that to "avoid all the sugar it contains."

If you're not in the mood for the Grilled Chicken Sandwich and still want to make smart choices at Chick-fil-A, Sarah Koszyk, MA, RDN, recommends looking for lower-calorie options that include grilled proteins and healthy vegetables. "You can find healthy options, even at most fast-food joints now, including Chick-fil-A. When perusing the menu for lower-calorie options, look for items that are grilled and focus on including colors on your plate from fruits or vegetables," she told Eat This, Not That! 

 

So, which sides should be including in your order? Koszyk suggests getting "a fruit cup, a hearty bowl of chicken soup, or a side salad" with your meal to "get nutrient-dense fruits or vegetables in your meal."

Wow, we're thrilled to hear that there are ways to eat healthy at places like Chick-fil-A. But, it's definitely going to be hard not dipping our sandwich in the Honey Roasted BBQ Sauce!
