The Scary Reason Cough Syrup Is Being Pulled From Shelves Immediately

Bottles of Robitussin Honey CF Max Day Adult and Robitussin Honey CF Max Nighttime Adult are being recalled due to “microbial contamination.”

The Food and Drug Administration reported the recall, which was issued voluntarily by Haleon, on Jan. 24th. Read on for more details, including exactly which products the recall includes and what to do if you’ve purchased them.

Robitussin Cough Syrup Recall

According to the FDA, the following Robitussin cough syrups have been recalled because of a “microbial contamination:”

  • Robitussin Honey CF Max Day Adult 4oz; Lot Number: T10810; Expiry Date: 10/31/25
  • Robitussin Honey CF Max Day Adult 8oz; Lot Numbers: T08730, T08731, T08732, T08733, T10808; Expiry Dates: 5/31/25 and 9/30/25
  • Robitussin Honey CF Max Nighttime Adult 8oz; Lot Numbers: T08740 and T08742; Expiry Date: 6/30/26

According to Haleon, the microbial contamination could result in "severe or life-threatening adverse events such as fungemia or disseminated fungal infection" for immunocompromised individuals. For non-immunocompromised individuals, "life threatening infections are not likely to occur."

 

Haleon has not received any reports of adverse events related to this recall yet.
