Experts Say You Should Delete This One App On Your iPhone If You Want To Protect Against Hackers

These days, we rely on apps for just about everything—messaging friends, shopping, banking, tracking our health, and more. But while apps make life easier, not all of them are created with your privacy and security in mind. Some apps collect more personal data than they need, while others may have weak security that makes them easier targets for hackers. The more apps you use, the more chances there are for your information to fall into the wrong hands.

Knowing which apps put your data most at risk is an important step in protecting yourself. When hackers get access to your personal information—like passwords, credit card numbers, or even your location—they can use it for anything from identity theft to draining your bank account. In some cases, your data might even be sold on the dark web. It’s a smart idea to stay informed, check app permissions, and be cautious about what you share online. When it comes to apps that leave you most vulnerable to hackers, here’s one that experts say to be careful when using.

Social Media Apps

Social media apps are some of the biggest culprits when it comes to exposing your personal data. That’s because they collect a lot of information—sometimes more than you realize. From your name, birthday, and location to your photos, messages, contacts, and even your browsing habits, these apps build detailed profiles on you. Some of this data is used for advertising, but it can also be vulnerable if the app doesn't have strong security protections in place.

On top of that, people tend to share personal details openly on social media, which can make it easier for hackers to gather information that can be used for scams, identity theft, or phishing attacks.

Hackers target social media apps because they’re full of personal data and often have millions (or even billions) of users. There are a few common ways they infiltrate these apps that include sending phishing links through messages or fake login pages designed to steal your password. Once a hacker gains access to an account, they can actually make believe they are the user, scam their friends, or grab more private info from messages and settings. That’s why it’s so important to use strong, unique passwords, enable two-factor authentication, and be careful about what you click and share—even on apps you use every day.

Be Careful On: Instagram

Instagram, like many social media platforms, is an app that stands out because it stores a lot of personal information, including your photos, messages, location data, and account details. Hackers often try to access accounts through phishing scams—like fake login pages or suspicious links sent via direct messages—and once they’re in, they can impersonate you, scam your followers, or even lock you out. To protect yourself, make sure to use a strong, unique password that you don’t use on other sites, and turn on two-factor authentication for an extra layer of security. Be cautious about clicking on links from unknown users, and regularly check which third-party apps have access to your account. Avoiding oversharing personal details in your bio or posts can also help keep you safe.
