Apple Experts Agree: You Should Delete This iPhone App ASAP For A Faster Phone

Is it just your imagination or does your phone seem so much more sluggish these days? There are a number of reasons why your phone may not be resembling the device you took home from the Apple store (even if that purchase date wasn’t so long ago). Your charging habits could be causing battery power to dwindle faster. Maybe you’re storing it in places where the temperature is too high for its battery. Or, the most likely culprit of all, the many apps you’ve downloaded over the years include a few that are notorious for draining your phone of resources and slowing it down to a snail’s pace. Apple experts agree: you should delete this iPhone app ASAP for a faster phone.

Social Media Apps

Even though Social Media applications have become more of a lifeline for us these days, some of these are the sole reason for our phone’s poor performance and battery drainage, which, if deleted, can lead to significant improvement, notes Tech Expert Stavros Zavrakas, the founder of Orthogonality.  “A major one being- Facebook,” Zavrakas says. “The application’s notification service and background refresh activity consumes the iPhone’s power very quickly. Facebook constantly checks for new updates and notifications, even when you’re not using it, draining your battery, especially if you have a lot of friends on Facebook. Additionally, the application uses a lot of data, further causing a strain on your battery and lowering performance.”

Furthermore, the Facebook application has now become so full of advertisements and videos which further slows down your iPhone, Zavrakas notes.

“Essentially, if you decide on deleting Facebook, take a step ahead and delete the Facebook messenger as well,” Zavrakas says. “This too, just like its parent app, causes your phone to perform poorly and drains its battery due to constantly syncing contacts and sending in push notifications.”

But other social media apps are also rising to the top of most energy-consuming apps, as well, says Tech Expert Kevin Wang, co-founder of InYouths LED Mirrors.

“Snapchat uses GPS to track your whereabouts,” Wang says. “Even when you’re not using it, it drains your battery quickly. Snapchat videos and alerts drain your phone’s battery. TikTok: Recording, playing, and getting app notifications drains your iPhone’s battery. WhatsApp’s automated image and video downloads and notification service drain battery life.”

And even Flipboard could be affecting your device’s speed since it runs in the background and drains battery.

Geo-Dependent Apps

There isn’t just one type of app that can make your phone smaller. Geo-dependent apps also consume a lot of your phone’s resources and can slow it down. “Apps that collect a large amount of location data to function typically consume a significant amount of storage space on iPhone users,” Wang says. “Not to mention the security issues associated with tracking and recording your locations. GasBuddy and Tinder are two apps notorious for similar behavior.”

Games like PUBG and Fortnite

And, finally, games. “Games can be incredibly resource-intensive, so if you want to speed up your phone, you should consider deleting them,” Wang notes.

If your phone is driving you up a wall with its speed (or lack of speed), try deleting some or all of these apps to help it consume less and run more efficiently.
