These days, one of the biggest concerns with evolving technology is the way our data and personal information can potentially get into the hands of the wrong person.

One of the ways we can easily access information about each other is through Google searching, and while there are ways to prevent some details about your life from popping up online, there’s a lot that’s out of your control. A tech expert and content creator who specializes in cybersecurity data protection, Caitlin Sarian, shared a tip for “removing your personal data” from Google search results in a recent Instagram reel. Read more about what she had to say below.

How To Monitor And Delete Your Personal Data From Google Searches

These days, if you're ever curious about someone and have their full name, it's often quite easy to look them up through a Google search and get some kind of information. For some people, that can be extremely uncomfortable, especially if they're trying to keep things like their social media profiles or certain work-related things more private. While it might seem like there's nothing you can do to change your Google results, think again.

"Google gives you the ability to track, monitor, and request to delete your data from the search results," explains Caitlin in her Instagram video. "Here's how to do it."

First, Caitlin instructs you to enter Google and click on your account in the upper right corner of your screen. Next, click on the 'Results About You' page. If you can't find it, you can enter it via a Google search!

"Fill out your information you want tracked, wait for the results to come in, and review those results [to] verify validity," she adds. "Last, I request that you delete those results with your personal information."

Following these steps can help ensure that valuable pieces of information aren't readily available to anyone who decides to Google you, like your address or phone number. If you're worried about getting a bit more privacy these days, try this out to stay safe.
