Dolly Parton just rescheduled her Las Vegas residency from December 2025 to September 2026, citing “health challenges,” and if fans weren’t concerned with just that announcement, they certainly were after what Dolly’s sister posted. Freida Parton took to social media to ask fans to pray for her sister. While Dolly has since reassured fans that her health challenges aren’t too serious, many are still concerned for the country icon. Keep reading for more information.
Dolly Parton's Health Challenges
Dolly, 79, had six shows scheduled for this December in Los Vegas, but on September 28th, she released a statement explaining she was postponing her residency because she needs "a few procedures" to deal with ongoing "health challenges."
"I just need a little time to get show ready, as they say," she wrote. "And don't worry about me quitting the business because God hasn't said anything about stopping yet."
However, days later, her little sister took to social media to ask fans for prayers: "Last night, I was up all night praying for my sister, Dolly..." she posted. "I truly believe in the power of prayer, & I have been lead to ask all of the world that loves her to be prayer warriors & pray with me."
Later that night, Freida backtracked a bit, clarifying online that she did not mean to scare anyone about Dolly's health. The next, Dolly herself posted a video assuring fans she's doing better than okay. "I ain't dead yet," she wrote in the caption.
"Do I look sick to you?" she said in the video. "I'm working hard here." Though she didn't provide any further clarification on her health challenges, she did note that she needs to stay close to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville where she is receiving treatment.

Social Media Reactions
Despite the clarification from the Parton family that Dolly's health condition isn't serious, fans are still sharing their prayers and well wishes for the singer on social media. "I'm not religious but I just said a quick prayer in case," one person wrote on Instagram.
"I swear to god if we lose Dolly I'm going with her," another posted.
"Please let tis not be the year we lose Dolly," a third agreed.
"OMG prayer hard please Dolly has to be okay man," another comment reads.
"I can't handle this right now," another said. "I live in Tennessee and I think about Dolly literally every day."
"She better not go anywhere," said one fan. "We already lost Betty White."
"Sending you all the love and prayers out there, Dolly!" a final fan said.
