Donald Trump is continuing to make headlines as he shares updates on the war in Iran, but one of his stories about Iraq is resurfacing and causing the internet to buzz.

The president recently made a speech at a rally in Rome, Georgia, where he went on a tangent about how he once flew to Iraq in 2018. He called himself “extremely brave” before explaining how he believes he should receive a Congressional Medal of Honor for his trip. Social media could not get over his comments and began calling him out on social media, flabbergasted by the way he would describe himself as a deserving candidate for the prestigious honor. Donald Trump Says He Deserves A Congressional Medal Of Honor For Flying To Iraq In 2018

If there's one thing the current president loves to do, it's boast about himself and his accomplishments, even if they're not all he makes them out to be.

The Apprentice star held a rally in Rome, Georgia, towards the end of February, as he was also promoting the congressional candidates he was endorsing. However, as he began talking about his time in office and other ventures, he brought up a somewhat random story about the time he flew to and visited Iraq in 2018 to visit troops around the holidays.

"I decided to go to Iraq," he said. "I was extremely brave. So brave in fact that I wanted to give myself the Congressional Medal of Honor. I said to my people, 'Am I allowed to give myself the Congressional Medal of Honor?' And you know, I've given out so many to guys that are seriously brave. I mean, they come in, and their arms are missing, their legs are missing. Their stories are so unbelievable. And I said that's a little stretch if I gave myself one."

Social Media Users React To Trump's Comments On Iraq

Though his rally speech was made in February, the clip of the 79-year-old talking about his flight to Iraq and how he believes he should be honored alongside "seriously brave" American soldiers and veterans.

Users began slamming him for his comments, as well as reflecting on how he's known as a "draft-dodger," because he never did serve his country during war, getting out of the draft during the Vietnam War, four times for college, and once for a medical diagnosis.

"Egomaniac," responded an X user. "He can award himself 1,000 Medals of Honor, but he didn't earn them. And that's the thing about Donald Trump - the award itself means more to him than the blood, sweat, tears, and sacrifice needed to EARN an award."

"Donnie the Draft-Dodger," joked another.

"No truly brave person brags about being brave," slammed a user. "He is pathetic."
