It seems Donald Trump had such a grand time during his visit to Buckingham Palace that he wants to return the favor and then some when King Charles and Queen Camilla visit the White House this week. Ahead of their arrival, Trump couldn’t be singing more praises to King Charles, despite having previously bad mouthed a different royal—or former royal, we should say. Donald Trump Prepares For King Charles' Visit

While Trump has certainly been preoccupied recently with the conflict in Iran, that hasn't stopped him from preparing a warm welcome for England's King and Queen. During a brief phone interview with BBC late last week, Trump was asked if he thought the royals' visit would help repair U.S.-U.K. relations, as the two nations had been in a bit of a tiff after Trump criticized the U.K. for their involvement—or lack thereof—in the Iran war.

"He's fantastic," Trump said. "He's a fantastic man. Absolutely the answer is yes. I know him well, I've known him for years. He's a brave man, and he's a great man. They would absolutely be a positive."

Tensions were initially high because Trump and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer butted heads over the Iran war, namely because Starmer didn't want to get involved and refused to let the United States use British bases to launch initial attacks. Trump responded by saying that he did not "need" the United Kingdom, but that they "should've been there."

Despite this, Trump is clearly excited to host King Charles and Queen Camilla, despite having badmouthed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in the past. A few years ago, Trump told a reporter, "I'm not a fan of hers," referencing Markle, and just last year when Prince Harry was facing deportation for having admitted to illegal drug use, he doubled down. "I'll leave him alone," Trump said. "He's got enough problems with his wife. She's terrible."
