Donald Trump and Rudy Giuliani have had their ups and downs: they worked together during Trump’s 2020 presidential campaign, which resulted in Giuliani being permanently disbarred after an ethic breach related to attempting to undermine the election results, and then Giuliani went bankrupt, claiming that the Trump never paid for his legal services. It seems, though, that they’ve made up, as Trump has announced that he will be awarding Giuliani the Presidential Medal of Honor, America’s highest civilian honor. Keep reading for more information.
Trump Announces Presidential Medal Of Honor For Giuliani
On Labor Day, just two days following a car accident that resulted in serious injuries for the former mayor, Trump wrote on Truth Social, "As President of the United States of America, I am pleased to announce that Rudy Giuliani, the greatest Mayor in the history of New York City, and an equally great American Patriot, will receive THE PRESIDENTIAL MEDAL OF FREEDOM, our Country’s highest civilian honor."
Adding that details surrounding the date and location for the ceremony will come at a later date, he concluded, "Thank you for your attention to this matter. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!!"
Giuliani was the mayor of New York City from 1994 until 2001 and has had a personal and professional relationship with Trump for decades.

Rudy Giuliani Permanently Disbarred
In 2023, Giuliani was permanently disbarred in Washington, DC. A disciplinary board released a 38-page decision, which focused on Giuliani’s post-election lawsuit, in which he attempted to disregard thousands of votes won by President Joe Biden in the battleground state of Pennsylvania.
“Mr. Giuliani’s effort to undermine the integrity of the 2020 presidential election has helped destabilize our democracy. His malicious and meritless claims have done lasting damage,” the panel wrote. They added: “He claimed massive election fraud but had no evidence of it.”
According to the panel, Giuliani’s actions were a breach of professional conduct. “By prosecuting that destructive case Mr. Giuliani, a sworn officer of the Court, forfeited his right to practice law His utter disregard for facts denigrates the legal profession,” they continued.
