Ellen DeGeneres Forced To Lower Home Price
Their Bel Air home, known as "The Brown House" was originally crafted in 1955 by renowned architect Richard Neutra. Ellen and Portia purchased the home in November 2022 for $29M and did some extensive renovations, working with designers to restore Neutra's original vision while adding some modern amenities.
At five bedrooms, six and a half baths, and two gorgeous kitchens, the home shouldn't have had any issues selling, especially considering the secluded location. However, they initially listed the home at $33.9M, but just recently, they re-listed the home for $29.99M, a significant reduction in price.
Why Did Ellen And Portia Really Leave The US?
According to TMZ, Ellen and Portia have been telling people that they fled to the U.K. following Donald Trump's election win, saying they wanted to "get the hell out of the country." But it seems like the former chat show host's abrupt fall from grace in Hollywood may have also played a role.
Ellen seemed to keep a low profile after being canceled due to questionable past interviews and allegations of a toxic workplace at The Ellen Show, but resurfaced for a Netflix comedy special called For Your Approval.
Telling the audience what she had been up to since leaving the spotlight, she said: "I decided to take up gardening. I got chickens. Let me see what else can I tell you about what's been going on. Oh yeah, I got kicked out of show business... Yeah, the 'be kind' girl wasn't kind. That was the headline."
The Netflix special was a huge flop, with an insider telling In Touch last year: "Ellen is still angry and she's had enough. Her final comedy special is the last time anyone will see her in the public eye."
