Emily Blunt Steps Out With Platinum Blonde Hair While Filming 'DWP2' In New York City
This year, star actors and actresses have been seen in the Big Apple to film The Devil Wears Prada 2, which is the very highly anticipated sequel to the original 2006 comedy/drama film that follows the lives of dedicated and overworked employees in the fashion publishing industry.
One of the key actors from the films is Emily, who plays an assistant to Miranda Priestly, an extraordinarily influential and demanding editor-in-chief of one of the most esteemed fashion magazines in the world, played by Meryl Streep. Emily, whose character has the same name, is one of her hardworking assistants, who was truly put through the ringer in the first film. During her first weeks of filming earlier this summer, the SAG award winner was sporting her character's original red, auburn hair, which many movie lovers really liked on her. However, while filming earlier this month, things were different.
While filming on the streets of Manhattan yet again, Emily and co-star Anne Hathaway were spotted filming a few scenes by fans and paparazzi. However, the London native truly stood out the most, as her hair was suddenly platinum blonde with slightly brown roots, a rather shocking transition from the original color. She still had a choppy, long bob haircut, but her locks were very light, and she had on a funky, bright red sweater and micro mini shorts.
Fans React To Emily's Blonde Hair On Social Media
Like most behind-the-scenes videos and pictures from TDWP2 filming, once the photos of Emily with blonde hair were taken, they went viral on social media. These new snaps went especially viral due to how different her hair was, with many fans debating which shade they liked on her more.
"She looks amazing," commented a fan on Instagram.
"Thought it was Katy Perry!" added another.
"As she should!" wrote a fan. "Reinvention looks good on her."
Some fans were not as into the blonde hair, believing it didn't look as good on the mom-of-two or perhaps, missing her character's classic red hair.
"Oh, Emily, no!" commented an Instagram user.
"Noo!" added another. "I love her as a redhead."
"I liked the red hair more," commented a user.
While we can't know for sure what drove Emily's character to change up her hair so dramatically, or whether or not her character will keep it for the entire film, we know it's certainly sparked mixed reactions. However, one thing is for sure - fans are ecstatic for this movie to hit theaters.
