We all know that we should eat our fruits and vegetables to be healthy. But when it comes to eating to keep our skin looking youthful, there are certain fruits in particular that rank higher on the anti-aging benefits scale.

While maintaining a skincare regime packed with serums and moisturizers is great, making sure we’re eating things that are helping our skin from the inside can be even more important. So we’re here to tell you that there is a holy grail fruit that you need to start eating if you’re over 50 and want wrinkle-free skin (or, no matter what your age is!)

Founder of Five Star Skincare, Toby Dash, explained that avocados are a transformative gem when it comes to anti-aging. “Avocados are delicious and help to prevent and even reverse the process of aging.”

Not only are they great for anti-aging purposes, but avocados are also one of the best foods to eat if you want moisturized and blemish-free skin. Dash explained, “The main type of carotenoid found in avocados is called lutein. Lutein prevents UV skin damage. Chlorophyll is known to prevent free radical damage.” Free radical damage quickens the aging process so anything that can fight and prevent radical damage is a winner. Avocados are also rich in Omega-3, which helps  increase collagen production and helps keep your skin looking youthful. So, Dash says, “By eating an avocado a day, you will age slower!  FACTS!”

Of course, avocados can be enjoyed on their own, but to sneak avocado into your diet in more exciting ways – the options are endless.

Avocado toast is a go-to option, add it to your salad, indulge in that extra guac, make your smoothie creamier with avocado instead of banana, or even make a raw vegan pudding with avocado and cacao (if you’re feeling adventurous or really want to mask the taste if you’re not a fan). Your skin will thank you!
