Gayle King Is Leaving CBS Mornings Following Trump Call Out

Last month, Trump took to Truth Social to call out Gayle King. "Gayle King's career is over," he wrote. "No talent, no ratings, no strength!!!" This, in connection to Paramount cutting ties with dozens of staffers at CBS News, could mean bad news for Gayle King, just as it did for Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel when Trump came for their talk shows.

According to insiders, King may be shifting to a different role at the news division as part of the Paramount Skydance overhaul. While there are signs that CBS may want her to stay on board with the news division, just not in her normal anchor seat, it is unclear at this time what her future at CBS looks like beyond her May 2026 contract.

Social Media Reactions

As these rumors spread like wildfire across social media, Gayle's fans have been quick to express their outrage. "Nooooo, I am devastated," one person wrote on Instagram. "Gayle brought so much to this show."

"Oh Trump fired someone again?" another person asked.

"It's all because of Paramount and Trump," another user agreed.

"I hope this rumor doesn't hold up," one comment reads. "Gayle King is a fixture, a force, and a part of the fabric of CBS Mornings."

"How could they do this?" another asked. "Gayle King is timeless."

"Boycott CBS!" one person suggested.

"I won't be watching!" a final person agreed.
