Some of today’s most prominent performers and movie stars were out and about this weekend, as many of them attended this year’s Governors Awards.
On the red carpet for the ceremony, hosted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, big names in the industry, from Jennifer Lawrence to Sydney Sweeney, stepped out in what ended up being one of the most popular trends of the night – strapless dresses. The classic dress style was in full force Sunday night, and there were so many different variations of the strapless look as actresses flaunted their figures and indulged in the elegance. Read more about the stars who rocked the curve-hugging strapless dress trend below.
1. Jennifer Lawrence
In the middle of promoting her latest film, Die My Love, which recently came out in theaters, the Hunger Games icon arrived at the Governors Awards in style, wearing an elegant Dior gown.
The white strapless gown had a sort of corset structure around her torso, but was covered in effortless draping fabric that formed a criss-cross pattern. The draping created a leg slit effect, allowing her to subtly show off a leg while posing for photographers. The simple, almost bridal-inspired gown was paired with some long, dramatic earrings as Jennifer wore her signature blonde locks down and behind her shoulders.

2. Mia Goth
The English actress, making her way in some of today's biggest horror films, was a highly anticipated guest at this year's ceremony, considering her latest performance in the new Frankenstein film adaptation, which is receiving rave reviews.
For the awards, she wore a striking baby blue colored strapless gown, made from a delicate satin material that included a slight train of fabric behind her. The dress hugged her body, but was also covered in draped panels around her waist, adding some dimension and flair. She wore her hair down and straightened and kept her accessories to a minimum, letting the gown do all the talking.

3. Sydney Sweeney
The Euphoria actress has had quite the packed year; therefore, it was no wonder she was also included in this year's Governors Awards ceremony. She dazzled the red carpet in a strapless mermaid-shaped gown that was covered in crystal embellishments from head to toe.
The gown also had a train created by a large white bow on the back of the dress, and tightly hugged her figure as she posed for photographers. Sydney had her hair styled in an old Hollywood glamour type of look and accessorised her gown with some simple dangling diamond earrings.

4. Jennifer Lopez
The "On The Floor" singer was a triple threat this year, taking on a musical film role in Kiss Of The Spiderwoman, making her another noteworthy guest at this year's awards ceremony. For the event, she wore a gown as extravagant as the movie-musical, stepping out in a tight, strapless two-toned gown.
The gown was made from a black velvet fabric with satin champagne panels and a champagne colored train that trailed behind her. The dress accentuated her curves, and she paired it with some dramatic, long black gloves and a coordinating black clutch.
