Gracie Abrams may have been on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to promote her new music, but her outfit quickly became the main topic of conversation among some fans.
The singer recently released “Daughter From Hell,” her third studio album and the follow-up to 2024’s “The Secret of Us.” During her appearance on the late-night show on September 28, she performed “Look at My Life” from the new album.
For the performance, the 27-year-old opted for an unexpected combination that appeared to blend feminine springtime style with athletic wear. She wore a colorful lace-trim spaghetti-strap top covered in pink, yellow and red flowers, with green details resembling stems.

Gracie Abrams' Recent Outfit Divides Fans
She paired the delicate-looking top with black track pants featuring red-and-white stripes running down the sides. Adding another unexpected element to the ensemble, Gracie wrapped a patent belt around the pants and finished the look with black leather flats and diamond earrings. Her pixie cut was styled out of her face and she donned a fresh makeup look.
The unusual combination quickly caught fans’ attention, though not everyone was impressed with the styling.
“She was going to the gym and decided to go sing on the way,” one person commented.
“I think I could be a celebrity stylist,” another wrote. “What is that outfit?” someone else asked. “Girl, FIRE that stylist,” another person said.
“High tea at 3 p.m. Pilates at 4 p.m.,” another joked.
“With all the beautiful clothing in the world… this is what was chosen?!” someone else wrote.
“Love her, but this outfit is not it,” another commenter added. “I miss the old Gracie’s outfits. I love you, but what’s with the style?” another fan wrote.
“Are you allergic to serving?” someone else asked.
“Genuinely, why does she dress like that?” another commenter wondered.

Gracie Talks About Her Relationship With Actor Paul Mescal
While Gracie’s fashion choices continue to spark debate, fans have also remained interested in her relationship with actor Paul Mescal. In June, Abrams opened up to Vogue about how being in a stable relationship initially made her question whether she would still have the same creative drive.
“I was worried feeling secure and stable was threatening my drive to write music,” she told the magazine. “It freaked me out.”
Her comments appeared to offer a glimpse into how her personal life has influenced her creative process, and she later spoke even more openly about the relationship during an interview with Rolling Stone.
“It has given me all the perspective that I could have ever hoped for, on previous relationships, on my relationship with my family, on my friendships,” Abrams said. “It is the greatest gift, period.”
She also praised Mescal as someone who inspires her creatively. “I feel lucky to be generally inspired by him as a person and by his brain. It’s the easiest thing to make stuff together,” she said.
Abrams and Mescal were first publicly linked in June 2024 and have continued to attract attention as their relationship has developed alongside their respective careers.
