Dr. Jonny Betteridge is a London-based 'Aesthetics Doctor' with a background in emergency medicine, intensive care, and anaesthetics. He now owns his own practice, offering cosmetic treatments, and has gained online popularity by posting informative Instagram reels.
On March 31st, Dr. Betteridge posted a video about the potential cosmetic treatments Gwyneth has undergone, and ended up praising her appearance. What he had to say was quite interesting and provided the public with some insight into how certain celebrities appear to have been aging in reverse or slowing down the aging process.
"Gwyneth Paltrow is 52 years-old and she's a great example of someone who's likely had work done on her face at the right time but it's not too obvious," says Dr. Betteridge at the start of his video.
The doctor begins by describing the actress's facial transformation, showing a photo of her at age 47 from 2020. He points out how she had some "notable signs of aging," including upper facial lines, hooding of the eyes, and an overall loss of definition in her face.
However, he then uses a photo of the Goop founder from 2022, when she was 49, and points out that there is a subtle "shift" in her appearance.
"She looks different, but you can't necessarily immediately pinpoint why," he explains.
"I think she's had an 'upper blepharoplasty', a deep plane face and neck lift, likely combined with skin treatments such as CO2 laser resurfacing and a comprehensive skincare routine."
Dr. Betteridge came to this conclusion, as the mom-of-two's eyelids suddenly looked more open, her jawline had more definition, and there was less sagging around her neck area. Additionally, he uses a photo of Gwyneth with her hair up to point out a small scar in front of one of her ears.
He adds that Gwyneth's transformation is especially impressive, as while there are subtle differences in the way her face looks, she "still looks like herself."
"The best cosmetic surgery should look undetectable, where someone just looks refreshed, but not overly changed," added Dr. Betteridge.
