If you’ve ever wanted fuller lips, chances are the thought of getting lip fillers or some sort of cosmetic injection has probably crossed your mind. While this may be a good idea, it can also be a pretty expensive one too. We don’t want to exaggerate, but getting lip fillers is indeed a major commitment. You have to be prepared for the changes that will appear on your face, the aftercare routine you need to follow, and more.

Doesn’t sound like lip fillers are for you? Don’t worry, that’s absolutely okay. Luckily, natural remedies exist. The best part? They’re non-invasive too! So, how exactly do you plump your lips without injections? We asked professional makeup artist Margina Dennis to find out. Keep reading to learn more.

How To Plump Your Lips Without Fillers

Exfoliate.

According to Dennis, "Use a lip exfoliator or lip scrub to remove dead skin and stimulate the blood circulation in the lip. [This] will have a plumping effect." She recommends two products for this tip: The Lip Scrub from Sara Happ and The Sonia Kashuk Lip Scrubber. The former is "a sugar scrub with with jojoba and grape seed oils that gently exfoliates and nourish the lips" while the latter is "a dual-sided tool that you use [to exfoliate and stimulate blood circulation]."

Use oils.

"Peppermint oil, cinnamon oil, and cayenne pepper can be used to plump the lips," Dennis tells us. "These products act as an irritant and cause the lips to swell to give the appearance of fuller lips. Just a fair warning: These products may cause a tingling sensation!

Wear lip masks or use lip plumpers.

Dennis adds, "Hyaluronic acid in lip plumpers and lip masks can create an immediate plumping effect with the tingle." As for product recommendations, she suggests the City Beauty City Lips and Laniege Lip Sleeping Mask. "Both contain hyaluronic acid which deliver immediate and accumulative results."

Try a lip suction plumper device.

Lastly, Dennis advises, "A lip suction plumper device like the Juvalips Automatic All Natural Lip Plumper can increase the lip volume when use as directed without bruising the lips." She explains, "The device is to be used at least once in the morning and once at night but no more than twice in the morning and twice at night to see a more pouty mouth."
