The Wolverine icon is on a roll so far, still receiving a lot of praise for his performance in the headline-making Song Sung Blue, which he starred in alongside Kate Hudson. As he continues to get through this year's award season, fans are starting to reel over the trailer for his upcoming role of Robin Hood.
Earlier this month, popular film production studio A24 released the trailer for The Death of Robin Hood, based on the legendary tale of Robin Hood, which Hugh will be playing. The movie is due to be released later this year, but the trailer already has a lot of his fans wanting to see it as soon as possible.
In the new film, the 57-year-old plays a version of Robin Hood who looks a lot different than the character you'd typically see in storybooks. In clips of the trailer, he can be seen looking rather rugged and grizzly, with a long, gray and white beard, and long, gray hair that matches. Fans React To Hugh's Robin Hood Look On Social Media
Once the trailer dropped, fans of the Greatest Showman star began buzzing about it on social media, unable to get over how drastically different he looks from his clean-cut self. They expressed excitement over the film, including its star-studded cast, which is not just made up of him, but other award-winning actors like Jodie Comer, Bill Skarsgård, Murray Bartlett, and more.
"Feels like Logan but with Robin Hood," wrote a fan on Instagram, referencing another one of Hugh's iconic roles. "Awesome!"
"You already know Hugh Jackman is gonna kill it," added one on YouTube.
"This looks good," wrote another. "Couldn't even tell that was Hugh Jackman at the beginning."
One YouTube user wrote that the wig, beard, and rugged look made Hugh look "ancient," as others added that they "can't wait for this."
