The former reality star has been making a comeback after a long hiatus from creating and performing music. At the end of March, she released her first EP in nearly a decade, titled Nashville Canyon, Pt. 1, which features some of her new singles, "Blame Me" and "Leave." Many of her fans have speculated that the songs off the EP are related to her separation from her husband of 10 years, Eric Johnson, which occurred earlier this year.
Now that she's back to releasing music, she's also proved she's ready to get back onstage. On Sunday, May 18th, she performed on live television for the first time in 15 years during American Idol's Season 23 finale episode. She sang "Blame Me," and one of her most famous tracks, her cover of "These Boots Are Made For Walkin'" alongside former Idol contestant Josh King.
While her appearance was very exciting for her loyal fanbase, they were also buzzing over her new hair color. The Y2K icon has always had long, light blonde hair that has made up her signature look. However, during her television moment, she had a more 'dirty blonde' shade that complimented her tan skin tone and looked great on stage. She debuted her hair color a bit earlier than her American Idol episode on Instagram, where her fans raved about the new shade.

The Dukes of Hazzard actress has been using the same pro hairstylist for years, Rita Hazan, who also happens to be her friend. The hair professional recently spoke to People about her inspiration behind Jessica's new hair color and how she made it happen.
During her interview with the publication, Rita compared the hair color to that of a "kid on the beach" and said it's "more natural" than the bleach blonde colors the mom-of-three has rocked in the past.
"She was so happy to get a new look and switch it up," said the stylist. "
"She always had a super buttery blonde. This time, we wanted something new and youthful."
Rita described Jessica's new shade as "desert sunset blonde," which is a cool and inventive spin on the infamous 'dirty blonde' term. Once the hair transformation was over after about two hours in the salon, the stylist said that her famous client "loved" her new color, which gave her a "fresh and young vibe."
Since premiering her desert sunset-inspired hair color on the famous singing competition show, her fans have continued to praise it, commenting that she's looking better than ever.
