There’s never a dull moment in the world of celebrity feuds, and John Legend recently spoke out against fellow performer Kanye West as he addressed his surprise at the rapper supporting Donald Trump’s presidential campaign. Ruffling feathers and calling the pair ‘underdog narcissists,’ Legend spoke to author Danny Goldberg for his book “Bloody Crossroads 2020: Arts, Entertainment, and Resistance to Trump” to throw his thoughts into the ring.

West and Legend, who run in the same circles and were even once friends, are evidently now on rocky ground after the 42-year-old crooner revealed, “I don’t see Kanye as a political person at all. We never talked about politics. He had never voted before 2020. “ It was because of this that Legend was surprised West so strongly supported Trump, and even decided to run for president himself.
Legend has been open about his political leanings, initially supporting Senator Elizabeth Warren as she ran for the democratic nomination, before eventually giving his vote to Biden when he ran against Trump in 2020. “Am I going to agree with 100 percent of what Biden does? No, but I know that he’s going to do what he thinks is right and he’s going to do it in a way that I think is genuinely concerned about the safety and welfare of the American people. And that’s a big change,“ Legend added of the current president.

Displeased with his old friend Legend’s comments, West told Revolt’s “Drink Champs” podcast on Thursday, “Both John Legend and Big Sean, when I ran for office, got used quick by the Democrats to come at they boy that actually changed they life. … I don’t rock with neither of them, and I need my apologies.” He also called the pair “sellout[s]. “
However, Legend has never actually denounced the pair’s past friendship, rather telling The Sunday Times in 2020, “I don’t think we’re less friends because of the Trump thing. I just think we’re doing our own thing.”
