Karoline Leavitt is embracing sweater weather with a cozy fall look this season, but her recent comments about the Republican Party’s midterm election losses have sparked plenty of backlash online.
In an October 15 photo dump, the 29-year-old shared a picture of herself holding her baby girl during a New England outing. She wore a cozy cream sweater, loose-fitting jeans, gray boots, and sunglasses as she smiled for the camera at what appeared to be an orchard or pumpkin patch. Other photos showed her spending time with her two children, surrounded by pumpkins, looking at chickens, and exploring the farm.
The former White House Press Secretary shares two young children with her husband, Nicholas Riccio: Nicholas “Niko” Robert Riccio, born July 10, 2024, and Viviana “Vivi” Riccio, born May 1, 2026.

Karoline Leavitt Addresses GOP Midterm Election Loss
However, after Democrats rode a “blue wave” in this week’s midterm elections, Leavitt appeared on Fox News to discuss the Republican Party’s losses and quickly faced criticism for blaming the results on the media and voters rather than President Donald Trump‘s policies and foreign policy decisions.
“Before the president launched the operation in Iran, I remember being at the podium talking about how gasoline was $1.99 in states like Colorado. And that was because of his energy dominance plan, not the Democrats,” she said during a panel on FOX News Democracy 26 while analyzing the latest polling numbers on the night of the midterm elections.
“So unfortunately, I think the American people forgot about the good policy, maybe listened to the lying media on the other side that is definitely in the backseat of the Democrat Party…and the Democrats don’t have policy solutions…They’ve got more money in their pockets because of the president’s tax cuts that Democrats voted against,” she added.
Online, many people were furious over her comments.
“He literally inherited the low gas prices,” one person wrote.
Another commented, “Hey Karoline uhhh no one remembers 1.99 gas…it’s over $5 now babe.”
A third added, “That’s like blaming windows for being able to see sunshine.”

Social Media Reacts
Others questioned her television appearance, with one asking, “I'm confused I thought she resigned to stay at home with her kids. What is she doing on TV.”
Another wrote, “Blames media while being media—that checks out.”
One critic added, “You forgot the human rights violations.”
Another commented, “They forget they can’t gaslight us. We are living it everyday. Our families are being affected.”
Other reactions included, “And then he started the war,” “I haven’t seen $1.99 gas in years,” and “Gas is expensive….gaslighting…is free.”
Democrats emerged from the midterm elections with major victories across the country, picking up seven Senate seats previously held by Republicans, winning two dozen House districts, and taking control of four governor's offices, along with several state legislative chambers.
Republicans, on the other hand, did not manage to win any closely contested races in Democratic-held federal or gubernatorial seats.
The results also pointed to a broader political shift, with Democrats making inroads in traditionally conservative states such as Texas and Kansas. The party now holds more than half of the nation's governorships for the first time in 16 years.
