Kate Middleton 'Emotional' Over Prince George's Departure For Boarding School
This fall, Prince George will reportedly follow in his father's footsteps to attend Eton College, which Prince William attended as a boy. While there is some speculation that he may head to Marlborough College, Kate's alma mater, Eton is the most widely reported.
According to royal author Robert Jobson, Prince George's absence will be felt strongly by his parents, reporting that it will be an "emotional" time. They're of course happy for their eldest son, though. "It's a chance for him to spread his wings and take part in things in the afternoons and evenings instead of going home to Mum and Dad," Jobson told Hello! magazine!
"Both of them know what it was like; they both boarded, so they know how it works," Jobson continued. "William used to visit the late Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh at Windsor while he was at Eton College, but that has to be organised. You can't just pop home when you want to."
Kate and William have a long time until they're empty nesters, though, with Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7 still at home in Forest Lodge on the Windsor Estate.
"They are such a tight family unit," Jobson added. "George will be missed. It will be like having an empty seat at the table."
