Prince Wiliam and Kate Middleton shared their Christmas card on their official Instagram account on December 18th, and it had somewhat mixed reactions.

While most royal fans loved the card from the future king and queen and their three children, a small number took issue with the fact that they had used a picture taken from an old photoshoot. Others felt that the springtime photoshoot was more suitable for Easter as opposed to Christmas, while other critics didn’t think it was a flattering picture of any member of the family. That said, the critical fans were still in the minority…

Prince William And Kate Middleton's 2025 Christmas Card

The Prince and Princess of Wales posed alongside their three children, Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10,  and Prince Louis, 7, for the Christmas card photo which was taken by photographer Josh Shinner in Norfolk. Shinner also captured Prince George and Prince Louis' birthday portraits that were released earlier this year, also taken from the same photoshoot.

In the Christmas card image, Prince William and Kate are sitting on the grass with their children gathered closely around them. Princess Charlotte can be seen cuddling her father's arm and smiling for the camera, while Prince Louis is lying between his father's legs and striking a pose. Prince George is seen smiling while sitting cross-legged beside his mother, who has one arm loosely wrapped around him.

The family opted for coordinated, preppy outfits featuring blue jeans, hunter green separates, matching blue shirts, and relaxed layers.

What Does A Style Expert Think About The Wales Family's Outfits?

While the Wales family have faced some criticism for the Christmas card, a fashion and style expert doesn't feel the same way as the critics. In fact, she believes the styling choice – in terms of the location as well as the outfits – was intentional, and more importantly, successful!

Discussing their coordinated outfits – which we know the Wales family do very wellDaily Mail celebrity stylist Oriona Robb said: "This image is a masterclass in quiet cohesion. Kate and William have opted for an earthy, muted palette that mirrors the children's knits and layers, creating a sense of visual harmony without slipping into anything contrived."

"The greens, soft browns and natural textures feel grounded and reassuring, a deliberate move away from high-polish formality in favor of warmth, approachability and authenticity," she continued.

Robb went on to describe the overall effect as creating "unity without uniformity," adding: "Each family member retains their individuality, yet the shared tonal language subtly binds them together."
