When Kate Middleton, 41, attended the Easter Sunday church service with her husband Prince William, 40, and their three children, Prince George, 9, Princess Charlotte, 7, and Prince Louis, 4, royal fans couldn’t help but gush over how gorgeous she looked (no surprises there!) in her electric blue ensemble. For the Easter Mattins Service at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, the Princess of Wales wore a stunning royal blue Catherine Walker & Co. coat dress teamed with a matching Mayfair Pillbox Hat by Lock & Co. and Emmy London’s Natasha clutch bag, all in the same matching blue hue. However, something else caught the internet’s attention (in addition to Princess Charlotte’s adorable blue printed dress which complemented her mom’s outfit perfectly) and it was the mom-of-three’s nail polish, which came in a totally unexpected bold red color!

Kate Middleton Breaks Royal Protocol
Red nail polish might not seem as daring and out-there as other things A-listers wear (it’s no thigh high slit or no pants look, put it that way) but it is actually against royal protocol, as only clear or very natural, pale pink nail polish hues are permitted. The late Queen Elizabeth II was reportedly fond of Essie’s ‘Ballet Slippers’ shade, according to several reports over the years, and deep red nail polish is certainly anything natural!
Meghan Markle, on the other hand, has broken royal protocol on quite a few occasions over the years. We already know that there are different rules for Kate and Meghan, with the former being the future Queen of the country and the latter not even being a senior member of the royal family since stepping down in 2020. Had the Duchess of Sussex, 41, been the one to wear the non-natural nail polish color, perhaps the internet wouldn’t have batted an eyelid due to her non-working-royal status, but Kate breaking this rule has actually taken social media by huge surprise!

On an April 10th post on Twitter which showed multiple pictures of Kate and Princess Charlotte attending the church service, one user commented: “Too bad the whole photo op is ruined by Kate’s brazen red nail polish. It’s not protocol and Kate Middleton has shamed the entire family. Shocking.”
“Kate Middleton should know better. Shame,” added another, while another noted, “The monarchy will fail now all because of nail polish. Did you ever think they are trying to modernize a bit?” “Oh, the humanity…” commented another Twitter user. “Alarming how little it takes to shame the entire family,” quipped another, adding, “Besides, if Kate is so set on wearing nail polish, shouldn’t it be blue just like everything else in the photo?!” Was Twitter being facetious with these comments?
