Kate Winslet is speaking out about one of the most pressing topics facing Hollywood celebrities today – plastic surgery and cosmetic procedures.
The Titanic icon recently sat down for a new, in-depth, now viral interview, where she sounded off on how it seems that more and more Hollywood stars are receiving cosmetic treatments and using weight loss medications. She called the latest beauty and alteration trends “frightening,” and opened up about how harmful she felt they were to the industry. Read more about what she had to say below.
Kate Winslet Calls The Plastic Surgery & Weight Loss Drug Trends 'Devastating' In A Viral Interview
Earlier this month, the English actress sat down with The Sunday Times for an interview, where, aside from talking about her career, she began sounding off on how many of today's celebrities seem to be dabbling in some kind of cosmetic treatment, plastic surgery, or weight loss drug to 'improve' their appearances.
"It is devastating," she said. "If a person's self-esteem is so bound up in how they look, it's frightening."
Kate noted that she felt it was scary to see how some people are altering their bodies in the entertainment industry, as she feels that it can be a dangerous trend, health-wise, and it "upsets" her "so much."
"And do they know what they are putting in [their bodies]?" she asked. "The disregard for one's health is terrifying. It bothers me now more than ever."

Kate Says Her Face & Body Have Remained 'Real' Throughout Her Career
The Oscar-winning actress has been vocal about beauty standards in Hollywood for quite some time now, as she once faced berating headlines from the media about her body and looks when she first started making it big at 19 after Titanic.
"The media was vile, singling me out for relentless bullying," she recalled. "I wasn't ready to be a famous actress. I was so young, but I felt so invaded."
The conversation surrounding today's latest elective beauty treatments and weight loss drugs prompted her to note that she's kept her aging process "real," and that, controversially, aging has been a fascinating and joyful process for her.
"My favorite thing is when your hands get old," she added. "That's life, in your hands. Some of the most beautiful women I know are over 70, and what upsets me is that young women have no concept of what being beautiful actually is. We have to keep being real."
