Social media culture has made it difficult to embrace your natural beauty when there are so many heavily edited pictures circling the internet, and Khloe Kardashian has shown she is clearly not immune to the same insecurities. In a before and after picture posted to the Instagram account Celeb Before And After on November 20, the stark contrast between the reality star’s social media face and her actual appearance was revealed.

Kardashian has been known to alter her appearance for social media posts, but the side by side showed just how much the reality star relies on Facetune, with a drastically thinner chin and nose in the edited photo than the still from KUWTK. It must be difficult to be in the constant spotlight, but Khloe does no favors for her fans in presenting a frankly unattainable standard of beauty.
Earlier this year, fans were up in arms when Kardashian posted an Instagram that showed her face with a painfully obvious filter overtop, slimming her nose and whitening her teeth. The 36-year-old captioned the pic, “location: under bitches skiiiinnnnn,” but social media users were unimpressed, with one commenting, “I actually feel for khloe, she’s obviously finding it hard to love herself. We’re only human, no matter how much money you have it still won’t make you truly happy. I hope she finds love in her heart to love herself the natural way, cause she’s beautiful the way she is.”
The reality star has been raising eyebrows over the last few weeks as fans attempt to decipher her relationship status with baby daddy, Tristan Thompson. After unfollowing the basketball player after the Keeping Up With The Kardashians season finale aired, Khloe flew to Boston to meet up with her (on again?) beau as he joins the Celtics roster.
While the Kardashian’s are no strangers to controversy, Khloe and her photoshop saga is one storyline that has been played out. The nature of social media leads all users to want to put their best foot, or face, forward, but with apps like Facetune circling Instagram, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to separate fake from real. The only thing that has become clear is that you can’t compare yourself to anyone, let alone Khloe Kardashian!
