News of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s divorce has been swirling for the last several weeks, but the true reason behind their split has only just been revealed. The couple, who have been together for nearly 7 years and started living separately last year, had a number of issues throughout their relationship but it was West’s lack of compromise that reportedly did them in.

A source close to Kardashian revealed that there is currently no real drama between the two, but, “Kim is mostly just disappointed that they couldn't figure out how to stay married.” The source continued, “Kim has felt Kanye is not willing to do the hard work and compromise.”
The couple have been on the rocks for quite some time, with rumors of a rough patch beginning as early as last summer. However, the pair seemed to patch things up at the time, if only temporarily. In January, when rumors of divorce hit the press, another source revealed to People, “They are just not on the same page when it comes to their future as a family. And Kim is okay with it.” Kardashian has since cited ‘irreconcilable differences’ as the official reason for the split.
ET reported that Kardashian is feeling “relieved” after filing for divorce, but is naturally still worried about her rapper ex, as he has publicly struggled with mental health issues over the years. As for Kanye, “The divorce has been difficult for him, but knowing that he has access to his little ones and has split custody is making the transition easier.”
Kardashian and West share four children together, North, 7, Saint, 5, Chicago, 3, and Psalm, 1. According to ET, “The kids are doing great and the older ones have had time to process and understand the situation,” the source continues. “Kim and the rest of her family have done an excellent job at coaching the kids through this.”
