Kim Promotes SKIMS Face Shapewear
Last week, Kim traveled to Korea with her sister, Khloé Kardashian, and bestie, La La Anthony. The trio opted to fly private, as the Kardashians typically do, and it looks like they had a photoshoot session while on the way. Donning the SKIMS Face Wrap, sunglasses, and floor-length fur coats, the social media personalities posed for the camera, and it was pretty obviously a promotion for the new SKIMS product.
The Seamless Sculpt Face Wrap is currently sold out, but they normally retail for $48. “Our first-ever face innovation is here,” the website’s description reads. “This must-have face wrap boasts our signature sculpting fabric and features collagen yarns for ultra-soft jaw support. Velcro closures at the top and nape of the neck allow for easy, everyday wear.”
The way Kim has advertised the product, it seems it’s supposed to be worn overnight or during self care sessions and can have a sculpting effect on your neck, jawline, and cheekbone areas. However, social media users were quick to point out that Kim admitted in a 2023 teaser for an upcoming episode of The Kardashians that she’s gotten Botox on her neck. So what exactly is she promoting? Looks more like unrealistic beauty standards to us…
Social Media Reactions
On Kim's post and on the SKIMS official Instagram account, users were quick to call out Kim for the new line of shapewear. "Selling face lifters to prey on women’s insecurities while flaunting a surgically enhanced jawline," one user commented. "Kim profits off the beauty standards she helped manufacture."
"Stop manipulating women," another user wrote.
"I love Kimmy but these face wraps are useless unless you recently had a facial surgery..." reads another comment.
"Does this include your doctors too?" one person asked. "We know this doesn't work ladies."
"This is BS!" said another. "It is scientifically impossible to reshape your face by using that senseless invention. It's nonsense."
"SKIMS: Making women feel bad about themselves since 2018," one person commented.
"Please leave us women alone!" a final comment reads. "Always profiting off of women's insecurities. Stop this!!"
