Kim Kardashian got candid during her Oct. 15 appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast, sharing several revelations—including the story behind North’s controversial corset outfits that recently stirred up online debate.
Raising a teen under constant public scrutiny isn’t easy, and the SKIMS founder told host Alex Cooper that she hopes people will give her grace as she learns and grows through motherhood in the spotlight.
The reality star also opened up about how her 12-year-old daughter has inherited her love for beauty. “I’ve had those conversations with North about makeup because she loves her lip liner,” said the AHS actress, adding that her “door is wide open” to her kids and their friends.

While on vacation in Italy in August 2025, North stepped out in a black corset paired with a skirt and knee-high boots. Her bold look—complete with electric blue hair—quickly sparked conversation and backlash online, drawing significant public attention.
The mother of four was slammed as a parent for allowing her daughter to step out in such an age-inappropriate outfit. "Shame on you, Kim," slammed one person in the comment section of a Daily Mail article featuring the pap pics. "Why is she allowing her 12-year-old to walk around in a corset?" asked a second. "This is the mother who thought Kanye West was a suitable father; no surprise she is inappropriate, putting a pre-teen in a push-up bra to get attention," wrote a third, in reference to the corset.
North West Is 'Confident' About Her Fashion Choices, Kim Says
However, it seems that North is already learning to be unbothered by the criticism, as her mom revealed, "She's really mature in one sense, where she'll be like, 'Mom, I saw this, and I don't really care that they don't like... my blue hair or this or that. She's really confident and is like, 'I probably wouldn't be hanging out with those people.'"
Kim asked for a “little bit of grace” and said, "I’m like, okay, we’re never wearing that again. Unfortunately, we made that mistake in front of the whole world," adding, "As a mom, you're kind of like learning at the same time."
North seems to have an eye for fashion, as back in September Kim told Complex, "She has a really unique style. She puts me on to so many brands, like she just loves what she loves. And it’s just really fun to see someone be so creative. And also know herself so much."
