Kiwi is usually great for you—not to mention delicious. However, this tasty green fruit is the latest to be recalled due to possible listeria contamination. Find all of the info, including the 14 states it was recalled in, below.
Kiwis recalled for listeria
If you recently purchased Zespri brand kiwis, take note: The Food and Drug Administration has announced a recall on this popular fruit. This is the latest in several fruits that have been recalled for listeria.
The effected products include 1-pound containers of kiwis sold at grocery stores between June 14 and July 7 across the following states:
- Florida
- Georgia
- Illinois
- Indiana
- Kentucky
- Michigan
- North Carolina
- New York
- Ohio
- Pennsylvania
- Tennessee
- Texas
- Virginia
- Wisconsin
Affected containers will have a UPC code of 818849020093, and the fruits will have bar codes of 94009552.

Luckily, there are no reported illnesses linked to this recall. However, customers are urged to throw recalled fruit out immediately. If you or someone you know consumed an affected kiwi, it's important to monitor symptoms, which include fever, muscle aches, headaches, nausea, and more. Symptoms can take up to 70 days to develop.
European cheese was also recently recalled due to possible listeria contamination.
