If you’ve sipped on some suspiciously sugary-tasting Orange Fanta “Zero” recently, there’s a reason for that. As it turns out, over 14,000 cases of Orange Fanta have been recalled because they were mislabeled as zero sugar, when in fact, they were the regular, full sugar variety. Read on for all of the details on this recall.

Orange Fanta recalled after "sugar-free" mislabeling

If you're trying to reduce your sugar intake due to the health risks associated with this ingredient, you may stick to sugar-free beverages. Unfortunately, many people who recently purchased Orange Fanta "Zero" in California may have actually been drinking a full sugar variety. This issue can be particularly concerning for those with certain conditions that makes excessive sugar intake especially detrimental to their health.

For this reason, 14,000 12-pack cases of 12 oz Orange Fanta Cans have been recalled by Great Lakes Coca-Cola Distribution LLC, of Niles, IL. The recalled produces have UPC codes of 049000030730 and Date Codes of FEB1224DDB1956.

If you purchased one of these recalled products and do not want to consume the full sugar soda, you should dispose of it or return it to the point of purchase for a refund.

A similar issue arose recently when Outshine Fruit Bars were recalled due to a potential milk allergen, which put people with dairy allergies at risk. Staying up to date on recent recalls is one important way to keep yourself safe and healthy.

It's important to keep in mind, too, that while sugar-free sodas may seem like a healthier alternative, the artificial sweeteners found in beverages like this can take toll on your health as well.

Luckily, there are plenty of truly healthy low-sugar options to choose from.
