Even the most beauty-obsessed women have trouble covering pimples when they’re doing their makeup. It’s a tricky makeup hack to grasp. Acne always pops up at the worst times–before first dates, when you’re stressing about a new job responsibility, you know how it is.
There’s no better person to get makeup advice from than a professional. Makeup artists know all of the best tips and tricks when it comes to putting on a full face of flawless makeup. We spoke to Kelli J. Bartlett, Glamsquad Artistic Director and professional makeup artist, to learn first hand the best way to cover a pimple quickly when you’re on the go.
“To quickly cover a pimple, a thick cream concealer warmed up on a fingertip is the best way to go,” said Bartlett. “Dab gently on the skin to cover. To make sure the product is fully able to blend and cover the blemish, Bartlett said, “Ensure the color is the same or slightly deeper than your skin tone so it doesn't stand out and look out of place. I love MAC Studio Finish concealer.”
Morphe M421 Mini Concealer Brush ($3.50)
While Bartlett advises blending the concealer onto the pimple with your fingertip, you can use a small concealer brush if you prefer. This mini concealer brush is small and precise to allow you maximum coverage.
To ensure the concealer stays put and covers your pimple all day long, use a setting powder on top of it. You can use the concealer brush again to directly dab setting powder onto the blemish.
Hard Candy Sheer Envy Setting Spray 1434 Brightening , 2.2 fl oz ($6)
As a final step, use a setting spray on your entire face. This will really seal the deal and keep your concealer in place. This brightening setting spray will help even out your complexion with vitamin-C for a healthy glow.
