We all know that the key to younger-looking skin is a balanced beauty routine that hydrates, replenishes and energizes. But there’s nothing like some expert makeup skills to help rejuvenate your complexion quickly.

This is where contouring comes in.

Contouring is a makeup technique that adds dimension to your face by highlighting and shading the right areas. I can be a tricky skill to master, but if you get it right you can take years off your look instantly. The key is to figure out the right products to use and steps to take.

"I find when too much powder is used to contour it can make the skin look dull and dry so I suggest using a cream-based contour product to keep the natural glow your skin has," Lo told us.

You can easily swap out powder foundation for a cream-based product that enhances your skin. Take a look at some of our favorite foundations here and here. It's always best to test out new products before going right into using them to make sure the tone matches your skin and the ingredients don't irritate you.

Once you've found the right cream-based contour product for your skin, the next step is to master your contouring routine. And luckily, Lo walked us through her contouring steps.

She explained, "I apply the contour cream in the desired areas including the cheek bones, jawline, forehead and nose, and then I spritz the Beia Daily Hydrating & Setting Mist onto a beautyblender and gently blend the contour cream into the skin. Next, I set the contour with powder and finish off with a highlighter to keep the skin contoured and glowing!"
