McDonald’s customers are once again fuming online—this time over the size (or lack thereof) of the chain restaurant’s once beloved breakfast sandwiches. That’s right: The McGriddle seems to be the latest “shrinkflation” casualty.
A viral Reddit post in the “mildlyinfuriating” Subreddit called out the shrinking size of the sandwich: “A McDonald’s breakfast sandwich is now the same size as a ketchup packet,” one disgruntled customer wrote alongside photographic evidence. The Redditor explained that they ordered a Bacon McGriddle meal with iced tea and an extra hash brown for nearly $14 in a small Maryland town—far from any tourist area that might inflate prices. “Pulled the sandwich out and my first reaction was to just laugh at how ridiculous this corporate greed has gotten,” they wrote. “Realized it was about the same size as the ketchup packet for my hash brown. And I had to order it myself on some 4ft tall tablet.”

“McGriddle McLittle”
The post in r/mildlyinfuriating blew up, with hundreds of users chiming in to share their own frustrations about shrinking portion sizes and rising prices. One commenter joked, “McGriddle McLittle,” while another wrote, “Breakfast was the only eatable food McDs had left. It’s officially a ‘buy a coffee to use the Wi-Fi and take a leak’ building now.”
Many others echoed the same sentiment, pointing out how eating out—even at fast food chains—has become less and less affordable over the years. “It’s actually wild how much eating out is even just for two with fast food,” one person wrote. Another chimed in, “Then stop going to McDonald’s. The place is garbage.”
As the phenomenon known as “shrinkflation” is on the rise, some are swearing off fast food altogether—especially when it comes to the golden arches. “Reminds me why I haven’t been in a McDonald’s in years,” one user said. Another summed it up with a new nickname: “McNoThanks.”
What do you think? Is the delicious McGriddle still worth the price, or does the shrinkage turn you away?
