Once upon a time, Meghan Markle and former British Vogue editor Edward Enninful were extremely close. But the pair have reportedly since fallen out, with new reports claiming that the former Suits actress ended their friendship due to a disagreement over a past Vogue issue. Wow!

According to a new Daily Mail report, the mom-of-two allegedly made some outrageous demands back in 2022, when she and Enninful had plans for her to appear in the British Vogue September 2022 issue.

Enninful reportedly wanted to feature the Duchess of Sussex‘s keynote appearance at the One Young World Summit in Manchester in the September issue, which would also involve “extensive features across the magazine and its digital editions.” But Meghan reportedly wanted more – including the cover, which supermodel Linda Evangelista had already been booked for.

Meghan Markle And Edward Enninful Reportedly Disagreed Over Her Involvement In The 'Vogue' September 2022 Issue

According to the Daily Mail's report, Enninful refused to change his plans for the September issue cover, which is when Meghan allegedly pulled the plug on appearing in the issue altogether.

"The duchess and her team had high expectations and were expecting she might get a print cover or at least a digital cover out of it, but Enninful was not able to meet those expectations," a source told the publication, adding: "He already had a magazine cover in the bag for that month. Edward was furious to have lost the project, as were the powers that be at Condé Nast."

"The whole process became very difficult," the source explained. "Edward could only promise her a big showy feature inside the magazine and online, but she turned it down."

Meghan Markle Reportedly 'Asked For Control' Over Everything: 'Nobody Gets That. Not Even Beyoncé'

Page Six also provided more info on what happened, and it seems like Meghan didn't just have demands about appearing on the British Vogue cover. According to the outlet, the As Ever founder wanted a "global cover," meaning she wanted to appear on the cover of not only the British Vogue issue, but also the American Vogue issue too.

"Meghan asked for control over [the] photographer, writer, final edit, photos, cover lines, and wanted a global issue," the source said, bluntly adding: "Nobody gets that. Not even Beyoncé." And for what it's worth, Adele is the only celebrity to appear on both US and UK Vogue covers simultaneously, which she did for the history-making November 2021 issues.

The With Love, Meghan star reportedly tried to get Anna Wintour on side by reaching out to her, but to no avail – partly because American Vogue already had Serena Williams booked for the September issue cover. "Anna wasn't interested," the source said. "Meghan asked for a Zoom with her to reconsider, and Anna did it to be polite."

Interestingly, the Daily Mail's source claimed Markle and Enninful are no longer on speaking terms due to this fallout, but Page Six's source said their relationship has remained "warm and respectful" even after the cover fiasco, with the pair reportedly even exchanging birthday wishes and flowers. Who do we believe?!

Internet Reactions

"She falls out with EVERYBODY! It's not them it's you Meghan!" exclaimed one Instagram user, as a second wrote: "She seems to fall out with everyone in time. Having read the story, it seems she had to have front cover or no article. So no article. She really can't see that she's not the most important person in other people's world."

"Anybody this girl gets involved with never stays with her very long. She's a nightmare," commented a third, as a fourth slammed: "She is not a nice person. And everything she does is fake." A fifth concurred: "Meghan is a terrible person… period!"
