Meryl Streep Is Seen Filming 'The Devil Wears Prada 2' In New York City
Over the last week, stars have been stepping onto film sets to shoot the highly anticipated sequel to The Devil Wears Prada, a famous 2006 comedy-drama that's based on the life of an aspiring journalist taking on an extremely demanding role as an assistant to an extremely powerful and influential fashion magazine editor. The movie, which stars Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, has been popular over the last decade, and, as fans believe, is loosely based on the lives of employees at Vogue, with Meryl's character, Miranda Priestly, being reminiscent of editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.
At the start of the week, both the Mamma Mia actress and co-star Anne were seen on the streets of Manhattan, going in and out of office buildings and wearing super chic outfits, which is fitting for their fashion-industry characters. Seeing the Oscar-winner return to her role as Miranda was especially exciting for fans, as some weren't sure she'd take on the project when it was first announced. In various clips and pictures taken from her time on set, Meryl is seen walking in character as Miranda, and even waving to fans from the window of a high-rise office building.
It was clear that not only does she have adoring fans on screen, but off-screen as well. According to Deadline, the movie is currently slated to be released in theaters on May 1st, 2026 - just in time for Met Gala season!

Those who love the 76-year-old seem to be getting more excited for the sequel day by day, as her last project was her time as Loretta Durkin in the Hulu hit, Only Murders In The Building. Now, not only is she back behind a camera, but she's also back as the legendary editor-in-chief. We can't wait to see what other behind-the-scenes content we get over the next few weeks, and neither can her hardcore fans.
