Ever since Michelle Obama launched her podcast, IMO with Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson, she’s been oversharing like it’s her job. In the most recent episode of her podcast, her guests, Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union, brought up a past comment from Michelle in which she admitted that there were a good ten years of her marriage to Barack Obama where she “couldn’t stand him.” Keep reading for more information.
Michelle Obama Used To Not Like Barack Obama
While chatting with Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union about marriage, the former NBA star recalled a 2022 comment from Michelle. "We're 10 years in," he said. "I heard you say that you had 10 years where you didn't even like Barak, so I'm like, man, where is that coming from?"
Back in 2022, during a roundtable conversation with Revolt TV, the Becoming author admitted, "People think I'm being catty by saying this. It's like, there were 10 years where I couldn't stand my husband."

Addressing the infamous interview, she former first lady said: "You know, I just tell the truth. It's like, you have these periods, right? And if you're married for 30 years, like you just look at the odds. If you're going to be married 30 years and somebody told you a third of those times wouldn't be great, you'd still take the odds. You'd take those odds. Those are great odds!"
She added that marriage is both "beautiful" and "difficult," which is why "you don't just walk away in the difficult times because you miss all the beauty because you think it's got to be perfect."

Social Media Reactions
Despite even addressing the divorce rumors head on, it's almost like she likes fueling them. Most happy couples would never admit not liking their spouse for over ten years—scratch that—happy couples don't hate their spouses! Social media users had a field day with this resurfaced quote, leaving comments across Instagram and X like, "Damn she really can't stand him."
"Hating how she's normalizing hating your partner," another person posted. "Ladies and gents, if you don't like your partner, please don't marry them. Or stay married to them."
"What a weird thing to admit," another user agreed. "She's saying it like it's a flex but it's really just sad and weird."
"And she wonders where the divorce rumors come from..." a final comment reads.
