Mike Pence just addressed whether he will be voting for Donald Trump *if* he officially runs for president in 2024! The 63-year-old former Vice President made his comments when speaking to students during a Q&A at Georgetown University on Wednesday October 19th; when one student asked, “If Donald Trump is the nominee for president in 2024, will you vote for him?” Pence hesitated and smiled before giving his answer.

Will Mike Pence vote for Donald Trump in 2024?

“Well there might be somebody else I’d prefer more,” the former VP responded, which can be seen in a video that was shared to CNN‘s Twitter profile on October 20th. “What I can tell you is I have every confidence that the Republican Party will sort out leadership,” he continued.

“All my focus has been on the midterm elections and it’ll stay that way for the next 20 days. After that, we’ll be thinking about the future — ours and the nations. I’ll keep you posted.”

Will Mike Pence run for president?

Pence's comment comes amid the ongoing rumors that he himself could be running for president, which would therefore pit him and his former boss against each other if the 76-year-old former POTUS does officially choose to run for the third time.

Donald Trump and Mike Pence history

Although Pence helped Trump secure the presidency back in 2016, Trump has already said that he would not select Pence as his running mate again should he officially decide to run for the presidency in 2024. "I don't think the people would accept it," he told the Washington Examiner in September 2022.

Trump and Pence's once strong relationship crumbled after Pence refused to overturn the results of the election won by Joe Biden in 2020, saying that he had no authority to attempt to overturn the votes, which led Trump to tweet that Pence "didn't have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our Country and our Constitution."

Donald Trump red tie

According to Simon & Schuster who are publishing Pence's upcoming memoir So Help Me God, out on November 15th, a week after the midterm elections, Pence didn’t attempt to overturn the votes because he "kept his oath to the Constitution."

Trump still insists that he won the 2020 election and has continued to criticize Pence for failing to overturn the results. "Mike and I had a great relationship except for the very important factor that took place at the end," Trump told the Washington Examiner last month, adding: "I haven't spoken to him in a long time."
