It’s official—Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth are legally divorced. The couple has been separated since the summer of 2019 after less than a year of marriage.
Cyrus and Hemsworth tied the knot in December of 2018. However, the couple has had an on-again-off-again relationship for many years. They met on the set of Nicholas Sparks’ romantic drama The Last Song in 2009. They initially got engaged in 2012 but ended their engagement and broke up a year later and then reconciled in 2015.
After a secret wedding in Nashville in December of 2018, it seemed like their tumultuous relationship was finally coming to an end. However, breakup rumors started circulating after Miley posted a vacation Instagram pic without her wedding ring in early August of 2019.
By the end of the month, Cyrus’s PR rep confirms the two have parted ways. Liam was the one to officially file for divorce from Cyrus.
Now that all the paperwork has finally cleared, the two are now single in the eyes of the law. Cyrus didn’t wait until she was legally single to move on. After her split with Hemsworth was confirmed, Cyrus was already engaged in a summer fling with Brody Jenner’s ex, Kaitlynn Carter. Currently, the singer is now linked to Cody Simpson. Hemsworth has been more discreet with his love life. He’s been seen with Australian model Gabriella Brooks, but have not publicly confirmed a relationship.
