Miley Cyrus Opens Up About 'Disastrous' Marriage To Liam Hemsworth In Resurfaced Interview
Miley and Liam tied the knot in 2018 and got divorced in 2020. The "Flowers" hitmaker has referenced their marriage a few times over the years, including the time she called her marriage to Liam a "disaster" while performing at Lollapalooza Brazil back in March 2022.
In a resurfaced interview from a 2020 episode of The Howard Stern Show, the Grammy-winning-artist opened up about her 10-year relationship with the Hunger Games star, which began when they met on the set of The Last Song in 2009, as well as what led to their divorce.
While many people believed that Miley's sobriety issues were partly to blame, she reiterated to Stern that it wasn't the case, and it was more to do with their constant "fighting."
The "Wrecking Ball" singer, who is currently dating drummer Maxx Morando, said she acknowledged that "there was too much conflict" in their marriage, telling Stern: "When I come home, I want to be anchored by someone. I don't get off on drama or fighting."
In the same interview, the Hannah Montana alum opened up about losing "everything" when their Malibu home burned down in 2018, and said: "I lost everything. And so, in trying to put that back together, instead of going, 'Oh, nature kind of did something I couldn't do for myself; it forced me to let go,' I ran toward the fire. Which is not abnormal, a lot of animals do this and end up dying, like deers run into the forest."
She added: "You're attracted to that heat and me being an intense person and not wanting to sit with it, and not wanting to go, you know, 'What could be purposeful about this?' I just clung to what I had left of that house, which was me and him. And I really do and did love him very, very, very much and still do, always will."
