As we grow older, our skin inevitably experiences the natural process of wrinkling and sagging. But fret not, for dermatologists have recommended trusted moisturizer products and anti-aging ingredients to help us achieve a radiant and hydrated appearance.

At any and every age, dermatologists emphasize the significance of a hydrating moisturizer, particularly for those who aspire to age gracefully and reduce the process’s pace as much as possible. To learn more about achieving supple and youthful-looking skin at any age, we consulted with dermatologists and skincare experts who recommend four classic and effective moisturizers.

Read on for tips, suggestions and insight from Dr. Brendan Camp, MD, board-certified dermatologist of MDCS Dermatology, Dr. Anna Chacon, MD, board-certified dermatologist and writer at My Psoriasis Team and Dr. Joshua Zeichner, MD, board-certified dermatologist and Director of Cosmetic and Clinical Research at Mount Sinai Hospital’s Department of Dermatology.

4 Hydrating Anti-Aging Moisturizers For Mature Women, According To The Pros

1. Avène Cicalfate+ Restorative Protective Cream

This "thick, creamy moisturizer" is a "popular beauty pick" in French pharmacies ($42 via the brand's site), Chacon says, and can also be found at stores like Ulta and Walgreens.

Camp adds that this product is made with thermal spring water, a "proprietary blend of postbiotic ingredients," that help nourish the skin. It also contains a "copper-zinc sulfate complex" to protect your complexion "from the elements," to "improve the skin barrier" and "keep skin hydrated" all spring and summer long.

2. Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream Moisturizer

This face and neck cream (which you can find on sale for $24.99 on the brand's site) is known for its anti-aging properties, Camp says.

He deems it "an effective moisturizer for dry skin," and notes that this product "also helps tighten" textured and wrinkled skin because it "includes amino peptides, which are building blocks for proteins that keep skin firm," like collagen and elastin.

3. Cetaphil Healthy Renew Night Cream

Camp notes that this nourishing moisturizer and night cream has been "shown to reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles" since it is "formulated with purified peptides, niacinamide, and botanical extracts."

These go-to ingredients provide "intense hydration and keep skin looking rested and revitalized," he advises. You can snag this cream on sale for $19.97 via Amazon, or it can also be found at stores like Rite Aid, Walgreens, Walmart and Target.

4. RoC Retinol Max Daily Hydration Crème

Fine lines and sagging skin under the eyes calls for a cream that will provide elasticity and firmness to the area. Zeichner explains, “If you have crepey skin under the eyes, look for an eye cream that contains retinol.

Retinol is a form of Vitamin A that stimulates collagen and elastin to firm and strengthen the skin.” According to Zeichner, the Roc Retinol Max hydrating cream (available via the brand's site for $29.99) will be your best bet as it “contains a stabilized form of retinol in a specialized formula designed for the under eye area.”

The Bottom Line

Overall, when it comes to dry mature skin, Chacon stresses that a cream moisturizer like these will be the "best choice" because its "thickness means it will feel relatively heavy on the skin, and will take longer to dry."

In addition, she recommends always choosing a "fragrance-free moisturizer that is free of parabens and irritants" this spring. The more you know!
