Miranda Lambert has just made the shocking – but extremely exciting – announcement that she is officially heading to Las Vegas for a residency! According to reports, the 38-year-old country music star‘s 24-date residency will be called “Velvet Rodeo,” and will take place at Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino from this September!
“When you’ve been touring as long as I have, there’s something really creative about imagining a residency in a city like Las Vegas,” the “If I Was a Cowboy” singer said in a statement. “I’ve had a lot of fun designing our sets, merchandise and clothing and boot lines – and even my place on Broadway in Nashville, Casa Rosa – so, this opportunity allows me to lean in a bit more into that side of myself and think about how to really bring country music to life in this room. I think everyone will like what we’ve dreamed up. I’m really excited about this!”
It seems like the residency will also benefit a great cause too, as the "Strange" singer, Live Nation Las Vegas and Caesars Entertainment announced that $1 from every ticket sale will go to Lambert’s MuttNation Foundation, which focuses on the adoption of rescue pets and support animal shelters across the country.
We wish Miranda – who was recently crowned entertainer of the year at the 57th Academy of Country Music Awards – the best of luck for her very exciting new chapter, and hope that it will be more like Katy Perry's hugely successful "Play" residency, and less like Adele's disastrous "Weekends with Adele" residency, the fate of which is still very much up in the air! (The latest, according to reports, is that the 33-year-old "Easy on Me" singer has officially fired her existing creative team and has hired a new one in the hopes to continue her residency in the summer "with a completely redesigned show." Interesting…)
