It seems like the prices of just about everything is going up, from fast food to chicken. But it isn’t just our food expenses that are skyrocketing; streaming services are also rising in cost. And according to the Wall Streat Journal, Netflix will likely soon follow suit by upping their subscription prices, potentially as a result of the Hollywood Actors Strike. Find all the info below.

Netflix to raise subscription prices

As if cracking down on password sharing wasn't enough to upset Netflix subscribers, the Wall Street Journal reports that a hike in subscription prices may also be on the way after the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) strike reaches a conclusion.

The ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, which began on July 14, followed the Writers’ Guild of America (WGA) strike, which concluded on September 27th. These strikes have impacted streaming services in several ways, including the cancelation of shows. Now, higher subscription prices could be another result as workers fight for higher wages and greater compensation for streaming shows.

These potential changes in price will likely impact subscribers in the U.S. and Canada with ad-free subscriptions. Earlier this year, the streaming service angered customers by getting rid of its $10 basic subscription plan, adding an ad-supported plan for $6.99, and raising standard add-free prices to $14.49. The premium subscription plan is now a whopping $19.99.

Time will only tell what future prices will look like, but it seems like these hikes are something we're going to have to get used to.
