Speaking to Harper’s Bazaar for its upcoming October issue, the Nine Perfect Strangers actress opened up about her and Cruise’s marriage and subsequent divorce, including all the media attention – both wanted and unwanted – that they received back in the 90s. We always like it when the A-listers look back and reflect on their personal lives – and as Kidman rarely speaks about the 59-year-old Mission Impossible actor, we were really excited about what she had to say!
The 54-year-old Oscar-winning actress was married to Cruise between 1990 and 2001, after meeting him on the set of Days of Thunder. They have two children, Bella, 28, and Connor, 26, together. Kidman also shares Sunday, 13, and Faith, ten, with 53-year-old country music star Urban, who she has been married to since 2006.
The thing the Big Little Lies actress says she noticed most during her marriage to the Top Gun actor was how her career took a back seat in terms of press coverage, as all anyone ever wanted to talk about was her personal life. She told the interviewer that she blamed her youth for seemingly being too open with the press at the time, although also said that she she still likes to live her life somewhat openly. “I was young. I think I offered it up?” she laughed. “Maybe I’ve gotten a bit more trepidatious, but I’m always trying to be as open as possible. I just prefer to live in the world that way.”

"I’m wary at times, and I’ve been hurt, but at the same time I much prefer a warm approach rather than a prickly shutdown approach," she continued. "My husband, Keith, says that when he met me, he said, 'How's your heart?' And I apparently responded, 'Open.'"
And speaking of her husband, the Undoing actress also opened up about her marriage to the multiple-award-winning-musician, adding that they particularly love parenting their two children together. "We're always working through stuff, but it’s very much love based, so there’s an enormous amount of give and take," Kidman added. "I want him to have the best life he can have, and he responds the same way. We really love parenting together."
We are obsessed with Kidman and Urban as a couple, especially when they slay the red carpet together, but have to admit that we liked the brief trip down memory lane.
