Oprah Winfrey Says Quincy Jones Was 'Loved'
Quincy Jones passed away in November of 2024 and was widely recognized for the 1985 film The Color Purple, among his many achievements. The film featured both Winfrey and Goldberg.
Winfrey said on stage, “When one hears the name Quincy Jones, one’s first thought is musical genius, and for good reason,” adding that he earned 28 Grammy Awards and was also “the driving force behind ‘We Are the World.’”
Winfrey ended up being nominated for her role in The Color Purple, while Goldberg was nominated as well for Best Actress in 1986 for her role in the film.
