Being a new mom is hard! While there are countless books about parenting, sites and forums online, and even classes you can take, there’s ultimately no one right way to be a parent. As Paris Hilton navigates being a mom for the first time at 43, it’s clear that celebrities are no different than normal people when it comes to learning as you go.
The socialite posted a video on TikTok showing off her new mom van, with her two children tucked into their car seats. However, it was quickly clear that the car seats were not loaded into the car correctly, with both the babies facing the front of the car instead of the rear. Fans Slam Paris Hilton For Poor Car Seat Safety
In the now-deleted original video of Paris's children in their carseats, Phoenix, 2, and London, 1, were strapped into their carseats, but the carseats were facing the front of the car. For those that don't know, young children are supposed to be in rear-facing car seats until about three years old (though some children who grow a bit faster can switch to forward-facing car seats earlier), when they've reached the height and/or weight limit that allows them to safely face forward.
It also seems as though Paris put the seat belt that comes with the car over the entire car seat, buckling it in as if it were a toddler in a booster seat, which is definitely unnecessary and potentially dangerous.
Fans were quick to point out this mistake, and not very many of them were nice about it. Though Paris has since deleted the original post, fans have taken to Reddit and other Instagram pages that screenshotted the video before it was taken down to share their thoughts.
"This is downright negligence," one person wrote on Reddit.
"Call child services," another said in an Instagram comment.
"The car seats need to be facing the rear, and buckled securely the right way," another added. "How long has she been driving her kids around like this?"
"How can she not know better?" another asked. "C'mon."

Paris Hilton Responds To Backlash From Fans
Despite the aggressive criticism from fans, the 43-year-old reacted gracefully, and with more compassion than some of these harsh commenters deserved. She posted a new video to her TikTok, showing her two children safely facing the rear of the car in their car seats with the caption" "Thanks for the mom advice, I'm new to this," adding a smiley face. "The #CutsieCrew is now ready for take off in the #SlivingMom van."
And of course, fans reacted accordingly in the comment section.
"I love that you showed you were vulnerable and not perfect and took the advice," one person said, and Paris actually responded to this comment, writing, "No one is perfect!"
"Do you guys see how easy it is to nicely tell a new mama how to fix something rather than judging her?" another pointed out.
"I'm glad you didn't take offense!" one person said, and Paris responded to this comment too: "No, I'm not taking offense. I am a new mom and just learning as I go. So I appreciate advice when it is kind as I'm just trying to be the best mom I can be!"
